THE LEGACY HUNTERS - THE SINGAPORE SHOPHOUSE PODCAST
The inspiration for this podcast stemmed from my two-decade collaboration with Dr. Julian Davison. We now combined our research into this Podcast.
His profound passion for architectural history ignited my own.
He instilled in me an appreciation for the storied edifices of Singapore, its venerable architects, and the rich tapestry of the nation's historical odyssey.
Leveraging artificial intelligence, we saw a chance to expedite our podcast's development and share the narrative of Singapore's colonial history with a global audience.
Our focal points include:
- The enduring heritage of the Singapore Shophouse.
- Architectural history: Celebrating the significant buildings preserved by URA.
- Dr. Julian Davison's contributions as he accompanies me through my journey of helping investors to understand The Singapore Shophouse
Heritage Streets - We dwell into the provenance of these streets
People of The Singapore Shophouse - The Legends and Legacies behind these buildings.

THE LEGACY HUNTERS - THE SINGAPORE SHOPHOUSE PODCAST
How did the Singapore Shophouses attract so much attention . For me this article made me focus in Chinatown.
Message us for an Introduction or Coffee Session
30 Years of my adult life is spent focusing on my love for Shophouses in Singapore .
I remember one of my client a Hedgefund I work with bought , sell and lease assets with me around that time , then boom this article from Channel News Asia came about in 2007.
As I was very focus on Chinatown , its became clear this area is the area I will put my heart to.
Met an Hongkong client and from then till today he have 40 Singapore Shophouses in Chinatown. Then after him came Portebello , 8M , Clifton and the rest.
Amazing enough my client told me to keep silent , but being Simon Monteiro, I started having alot of exposure in business times and then more and more people came to invest in Shophouses.
At my 30th Year I am happy to say , it was the two of us that somehow paved the way for what crazy prices are and what now its no crazy but Respected Trophy Real Estate.
It is the Passion and now for Chinatown Shophouses only people with deep pockets can enter as the price in 1997 it was $350psf for 99 Years Leasehold & $525psf for 999/FH in Chinatown.
Today its all about how you do up the asset , is it corner , is it with a legacy appeal .
As the Fujian clan came in and mess the prices up , it did something good . It made people realised that if the asset attracts the Billionaire's eye . Even at $6000psg to $7000psf he will pay to get the Trophy Asset.
So we need to realised where the start of all this came from.. It came from a long years of history on the uprising of trends and mindset that we have reach the present .
Well I am happy to end my career now with this podcast of old stories I like to share to all who like to know Singapore and its roots.
Our Shophouses holds the key to the legacy of Who we are and where we came from.. Its why this Little Red Dot is so successful....
